Kocik kitchen- All very enjoyable and very tasty.

If you want tasty Nyonya food whilst in Melaka then Kocik Kitchen is well worth a visit.
From the street it looks to be small but there is a much bigger dining area to the rear.
Good authentic interior and very good food. Friendly helpful service and some 
delicious food. 

Food here tastes good and they served  a better cendol than most when compared to 
others that I've tried in Melaka.  Using premium Gula Melaka always helps!
 It taste and smells extremely good.  One is never enough!!

The setting may be small and simple but don't be put off by that, because
the service was good and the food was very tasty. We ordered the
Kapitan chicken, Terung berlada, Creamy prawn curry, Fried Bee Hoon, 
and tried their Pai Tee snack with Ngoh Hiang.

The waitress was very nice and communicates in English. 
The lady boss/owner Mdm.Suzy was also courteous.

What more can we want for a good meal here in Melaka?

This year’s Ramadhan, our Executive Chef, Mohamad Sharif presents an enticing combination of extensive range of international dishes with Middle Eastern cuisine starting from 18 June to 16 July 2015, available for RM88 nett per adult and RM44 nett per child, from 6.30 pm to 10 pm. With over 200 items of delicacies being featured in the buffet daily, we bring you the fresh new dining experience when dining with us.
For the Middle Eastern dining experience, guests can start with such appetizer as Squid with Mango Salad. The classic way mango salad with a combination of crispy yellow mango and squid julienne that is marinated with fish sauce, lemon juice and traditional Nyonya sambal belacan that tantalize your taste buds.

Venture into the main courses that you should not miss such as Prawn With Bamboo Sprout that strikes a deep chord with their delicate textures. Guests can enjoy the fried marinated prawn with fried bamboo shoot that balanced beautifully with traditional Malay sambal during their dinner.
For guests who are looking for an authentic traditional Malay cuisine, Ikan Pari Assam Manga Muda (Braised Stingray with Spicy Young Mango Sauce), with the crispness of the fish, sautéed with fresh turmeric and homemade assam jawa that is perfectly mixed and full of flavour will be our top recommendation.

Another signature dish is the Roasted Rack of Lamb with Kabsa Rice, a juicy lamb that made out of 7 Arabian spices cook to perfection in rich kabsa flavor with Arabic tomato garnish with boiled-egg and capsicum.

Should you wish to favour the sampling of international dishes, guests can enjoy their dinner with Shish Tauk with Saffron Rice, one of the most popular traditional Middle Eastern cuisines. It showcases plenty of Middle Eastern ingredients such as sumac and paprika, alongside prime kebabs that offers bite-size sampler of popular dish.

Slow roast the entire lamb at 180°C temperature that has been carefully marinated with 7 Arabian spices and paprika, top with Middle Eastern Biryani rice that will transform into a wholesome meal for the night.

Drinking Coconut Water

Gunabalan's Grouses



T his malaise unfortunately crosses the border on both sides of the chart. 
There are those in the service  industry who do not know how to serve or what true service means and there 
are employers on the other side of the chart who think servility is another word for service.

Both parties seem to misunderstand that service and servility are two different animals altogether.  
On the side of the sour puss service providers the often stated defenses are long hour work weeks, 
loss of sleep, highly stressed situations, incessant gossiping by colleagues, low self-esteem, and on
the side of the employing offenders are the low value added quality of workers today!

What both sides seems to want is simple:
Respect (from the bosses and customer)
and Ethical Behavior (from the employee and customers).

What both side seem to deliver and get is the opposite.

Many seem to demand for what they think they deserve without due consideration of their own
situation and job placements.This is simply the wrong people doing the wrong jobs. 

People! Wake up. If you're unhappy with your job, do something about it.
Take affirmative action. Get new training, change your job, change your wife/husband; 
but for God's sake stop sulking and showing your sorry excuse for service and serving
on the unsuspecting public!

And bosses too, need to grow up.
Top-class talent working in the service or knowledge and creative economy needs their
freedom, pride, and respect to do their best work. Don't expect to pay peanuts and not
expect monkeys as your workers, ya?

People will always work their asses off when the boss is a true gentleman BUT
they will do their best to screw you if you screw with them first. 
Not everybody is a pussy.

In Malaysia today, the youths and the general work force come with higher expectations
from life and a lower tolerance threshold. 
It will be increasingly difficult to get, train and keep good people to work in service businesses.
 This will consequently raise the general cost of doing business. 
Trained, effective service personnel within the individual service providing companies has always
been what separated the wheat from the chaff in the hospitality & service industry.
This jobs requires special gifts by trained people.
Understanding the client's needs - stated, implied, or anticipated - and delighting them with appropriate responses is where, some may argue, genuine business value is created.
Ultimately, this is what will attract the customer to return…. Service beyond expectation
